The company Ivoire Hydro Energy SA (IHE) announced this Monday, October 8, 2018 the signing of the design-build contract with the company Eiffage. This signature represents a decisive step for the 44MW hydroelectric project at Singrobo-Ahouaty on the Bandama River.
Eiffage - a French EPC contractor - was selected following an international call for tenders. With 150 years of experience, the Eiffage group is considered a benchmark player in the construction and public works sectors, generating more than 15 billion euros in turnover per year. The Singrobo-Ahouaty plant will be operated by IHE and maintained by General Electric.
From an environmental and social standpoint, the project will help reduce annual CO2 emissions by 124 tonnes. It will create around 500 jobs during the 3 years of construction and will improve social infrastructure in the remote and rural area of the project. In addition, the project was designed to avoid and mitigate negative environmental and social impacts. The studies were carried out by a team of renowned international experts in accordance with the Performance Standards of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Operational Safeguards of the AfDB. Relocation and biodiversity action plans have been prepared to manage residual risks.
