Singrobo-Ahouaty hydroelectric project wins "Power deal of the year" award
Published on 29 March 2024

The Singrobo-Ahouaty Hydroelectric Scheme (PAHSA), supported by the African Development Bank (AfDB), was named "Power Deal of the Year" at the IJ Global Awards in London.

PAHSA is the first privately financed independent hydroelectric power production and climate action investment project to reach financial close in West Africa in December 2022. The bank acted as mandated lead arranger for the Ivorian developer Ivoire Hydro Energy SAS (IHE SAS) for the Singrobo- Ahouaty hydropower plant.

Wale Shonibare, the Bank's Director of Energy Finance, Policy and Regulatory Solutions, said the award is "a recognition of our continued efforts to provide Africa with access to affordable, quality green energy, in line with the Bank's energy and green growth agenda. We are encouraged to continue to mobilise private sector financing and provide innovative financial solutions that facilitate just energy transitions and meet the unique financing needs of our regional member countries.

IJGlobal's independent, peer-reviewed awards recognise outstanding global refinancing and infrastructure creation deals in the infrastructure and energy sectors, and the organisations behind them.
